To me, there is just something so elegant about baring my shoulders. Currently, that’s why currently anything that is off shoulder is so me right now (and so many others too!) Enhance that with some dramatic sleeves and I’m sold. That’s why when I viewed the pattern reviews from this pattern I was like “gotta do it!” However, I decided to add my own twist to it by adding elasticized bell sleeves.
I sewed McCall’s 7543 view C with modified view D sleeves in a size medium. My adjustments were simple and easy.
- Measured from my shoulder to the elbow for the top part of sleeve’s length, which was 9 inches.
- Added elasticized bottom sleeves that were 8 x 17 inches.
- Added ¼ elastic to elbows.
The casing directions I completely disregarded. Instead, I serged the elastic to the bodice top, then turned it inside and top stitched it down. This way is soooo much easier, and prevents shifting of elastic.
I am a fan of shaped hems. Most of my purchased dresses if above mid knee length have shaped hemlines. Honestly, I love this dress. The pattern is super easy.
P.S. – you are loved!
